Story boards placed along Fredericksburg trail

There is yet another reason to venture out onto Fredericksburg’s beautiful 3.1-mile Rappahannock River Heritage Trail.

Fredericksburg’s Department of Parks, Recreation & Events recently finished installing a “StoryWalk®” on a section of the trail that is alongside Caroline Street between Old Mill Park and Ford Street.

There, walkers, runners and bicyclists will find about a dozen panels that collectively tell the story of Richard T. Morris’ “Bear Came Along.” The Fredericksburg StoryWalk® is hence an opportunity for children to get outdoors and read at the same time. Visitors are asked to use #FXBGStoryWalk with pictures on social media showing off the experience.

Throughout the year, books will be changed out so that visitors can come back again and again to read something new.

The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, Vt., and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library.

People on the Rappahannock River Heritage Trail will also find scenic river vistas, artwork, benches and more. It’s a great way to get outside and enjoy our city.
