SlideFXBG returning for 2019
The City of Fredericksburg is pleased to announce that last year’s wildly successful and popular event, SlideFXBG, will be back in town on August 31st – the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. However, in an exciting change from 2018, this year’s event will be held on William Street, with the start of the slide being set up a few feet below College Avenue and ending at Sunken Road.
Kodiak Events, operators of The Urban Slide, are pleased to be bringing their three-lane, 1,000-foot slip-and-slide to city streets for another end-of-summer hurrah. Shawn Smith, one half of the partner duo, expressed their excitement as such:
“We’re thrilled that Fredericksburg contacted us for SlideFXBG, round two! As event organizers, it always makes us happy when we produce such a fun experience that clients wish to use our services again and again. In collaborating so well with the respective departments for the city and the University of Mary Washington, it certainly has us excited to come back to town for another year.”
The Fredericksburg Economic Development Authority will be providing funding for the event, and the City of Fredericksburg and UMW will be working closely on planning and logistics in the months leading up to the big day.
