Construction is under way on Fredericksburg’s long-awaited downtown Riverfront Park. Last November, City Council awarded a contract for construction of the park to Athena Construction of Triangle, Va.
Crews have erected fencing around the site bordered by the Rappahannock River and Sophia, Hanover and (roughly) Charlotte streets and have begun preliminary work. The park is expected to be open by Summer 2021, with specifics to be announced later. Here is how the park looked Wednesday morning, and how it will look when complete.
