Redevelopment of former FLS properties advancing

The redevelopment of the former Free Lance-Star properties in Downtown Fredericksburg is making substantial progress.

On Monday, the Mellow Mushroom restaurant opened in the Liberty Place development, and Blue Cow Ice Cream shouldn’t be too far behind. On that same block, a 321-space parking garage is open, and next to that construction is well under way on the Winchester Place project (34 apartments and 3,200 square feet of commercial space).

Site work is also under way on the redevelopment of the block where the FLS used to stand. Plans call for a mix of apartments, commercial space and a hotel.
