Four eateries and two financial services companies have signed on at Liberty Place in downtown Fredericksburg.

The Liberty Place project team — led by Wack General Contractor and Coldwell Banker Commercial Elite — announced and introduced the following tenants/future condo owners at a groundbreaking event held Friday afternoon at the project site. The four eateries are all on the ground level, and the office users are on the second or third floors.

Additional leases are being negotiated. Tom Wack, who has spearheaded the project, said he hopes to begin demolition work of the building that’s currently on the site in July. The project is on a 1.5-acre site bordered by William, Douglas, Amelia and Winchester streets. Construction is expected to take about a year.

Liberty Place will include a roughly 85,000-square-foot, three-level commercial building on William Street and a parking garage with about 308 spaces on the Amelia Street side. All but 40 of the parking spaces will be free and available to the general public. The City of Fredericksburg agreed to return the incremental real estate tax revenue to the developer for 20 years in exchange for that public parking.
