Fredericksburg residents are doing pretty well when it comes to preparing for retirement, according to a recent study.
Fredericksburg ranked in the top 1 percent of the 20,000 cities studied by LendEDU for average household income from retirement. The City placed no. 101 nationally and 18th in Virginia. Other Virginia communities that placed high on the national list included McLean (no. 1 nationally), Vienna, Springfield, Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, Reston, Ashburn, Falls Church, Annandale, Herndon, Williamsburg, Leesburg, Woodbridge, Manassas, Stafford and Yorktown.
The study looked at U.S. Census Bureau data and ranked each city by its average household income from retirement. Fredericksburg’s average household income from retirement was $34,394.82.
