Library’s IdeaSpace opening in Fredericksburg

The Central Rappahannock Regional Library’s IdeaSpace: Making+Media will open by appointment starting next week.

The facility is at 1616 Princess Anne Street in Fredericksburg. Initial hours will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesdays-Thursdays and noon-5 p.m. Saturdays.

IdeaSpace is the latest evolution in the library system’s history of offering maker technology and empowering creative exploration. This facility includes:

  • Sound Booth for audio/video recording
  • Glowforge Laser Cutter
  • Ultimaker s5 3D Printer
  • Dremel 3D45 Printer
  • Drawing Tablet stations
  • Video Converter (VHS to Digital)
  • Sewing Machines

Starting December 17, customers will be able to make appointments for 15-minute tours, 2-hour badging sessions on equipment, and 2-hour equipment use sessions. Appointments begin December 19. Equipment will be available for checkout at a later date.

The project was made possible due to the generous support of the Fredericksburg Economic Development Authority, the Fredericksburg Cable Commission, and The Duff McDuff Green Jr. Fund of The Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region.
