Joshua Lawrence Salon awarded one of the Best Salons of 2022

When spouses Joshua Bethka and Lawrence Henderson opened Joshua Lawrence Salon in Fredericksburg, they immediately felt a sense of authenticity and community. “What has kept us here is the community,” Bethka said. In that spirit, Bethka and Henderson have strived to transform their business into the “Community Salon” of Fredericksburg. 

Recently, their work has paid off. A month ago, Bethka received an email from Northern Virginia Magazine. He was shocked and thrilled to discover that the people of Fredericksburg and beyond voted for Joshua Lawrence as one of the Best Salons in Northern Virginia, which was featured in the ‘Best of NoVa’ poll of 2022. 

Bethka and Henderson moved to Fredericksburg in 2010, and worked for local hair salons before opening Joshua Lawrence Salon. Bethka believes the award is due to the emphasis that he and his staff place on the customer experience.  He is always looking to increase the level of service in his salon, and believes the award signals that they are headed in a positive direction. 

“We are constantly trying to make sure that we become better every single day,” he said.  

Bethka hopes that the award will help shine a light on their salon, particularly as they plan to expand their business into Joshua Lawrence Salon & Spa. They are planning on opening a two-room spa on the second floor of their building for massages, facials, and body waxes. Bethka is excited for this next step, and he hopes that the award will help with the expansion. 

Bethka always hopes that the award will shine a light not only on Joshua Lawrence Salon, but on the entire city of Fredericksburg. “We are not just that small country town anymore,” Bethka said, noting that he has been trying to label Fredericksburg as a part of Northern Virginia for years. He wants the award to give Fredericksburg the recognition that it deserves. Fredericksburg has since embraced Joshua Lawrence Salon, and Bethka hopes this award will help Northern Virginia embrace Fredericksburg.
