Local teen artist Sophia Pineda and the Jayem Pals club have partnered with PONSHOP owner Gabriel Pons to create a 750-square-foot mural at Hugh Mercer Elementary School in Fredericksburg.

Jayem Pals is a social club at James Monroe High School that provides for students with and without disabilities to be involved in school activities and form friendships.

The theme of the mural is “In Bloom” and features a variety of colorful budding plants, which Gabriel Pons says is “an analogy for the curiosity and growth of elementary school students.”

Painting began on site May 20, and the mural is set to be completed by the end of June. We can’t wait to see the beautiful finished project!
