Future of Renwick complex to be discussed

Following a feasibility study on the Renwick complex by an outside consultant, the City of Fredericksburg is hosting a public forum at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7 in the former courthouse to discuss the adaptive reuse of the building, along with the Wallace Library and old City jail.

A tour of the three buildings will be offered that evening starting at 6:15; interested people can meet in the courtyard in front of the Wallace Library at the corner of Princess Anne and George streets. After the tour, at 7 p.m., a presentation of the economic feasibility study will be made in the former courthouse, followed by an open discussion about the future of the complex.

Developing the Renwick complex has always been a goal of the City Council. All three buildings are of historic significance, and there have been a number of ideas floated around town for their potential use. As such, the public is invited to participate in the tour and discussion of the property in hopes of determining some feasible uses and voicing potential concerns.
