The eco-friendly nature of the Fredericksburg Nationals’ new playing surface and stadium are featured today on the official website of Minor League Baseball.
MiLB’s article focuses on the turf installed at the new stadium. The turf filler consists of shaved coconut husks and sand, which keeps the field cooler than traditional artificial surfaces. The FredNats have also installed LED lights throughout the facility, and the lights in the parking lot are solar-powered.
