Fredericksburg donut shop gets new name

January 4, 2020 | Fredericksburg Business News |

The donut shop at 801 William Street in Fredericksburg has a new name, but the business will otherwise remain the same.

The former Sugar Shack Donuts location is now called Freddy Donuts. Edwin Grimes, who owns the shop at the gateway to downtown Fredericksburg, recently posted the following info (in italics) on the business’ Facebook page:

Many of you are wondering about our new name. We want to end all speculation and let everyone know… things are just fine. The pictures below are of us, the Grimes family. We are the family that owns and operates both the Fredericksburg and Stafford locations of what was formerly Sugar Shack. Yes I said formerly

This is not a bad thing! It’s been a year full or trials and tribulations for us, and nearly five years of blood, sweat, and yes even tears (we can assure though, no foreign fluids are in our donuts). Being a part of the Sugar Shack family has been such a pleasure and a huge learning experience. So why the change you ask?

As a family we have made this place a Fredericksburg staple, mom, dad and kids alike. We have put our EVERYTHING into our shops and it’s time we made it truly our own. We are no longer Sugar Shack, but something we created together. We are proud and happy to have made a place for ourselves here in Fredericksburg and we love sharing our lives with you.

So what does this mean for y’all, our wonderful and loyal fan base? In short….NOTHING!!

We will still be providing the same awesome donuts and vegan options we know you love. Don’t worry Freddy, your sweet treats aren’t going anywhere. In fact, this opens us up for a lot of new ideas and ventures so stay tuned! We have good things coming.

We love what we now feel comfortable as saying “our city” because you have made us at home here. We are here to stay, and really and truly be our own independent donut shop.

Whether you are celebrating Christmas, Kwanzaa, lighting the Menorah, or keeping warm by the Yule log we wish you all a most happy holiday and we can’t wait to grow with you in 2020

Look for our new signs going up at the beginning of the year. We thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing you.
