This coming weekend, there will be multiple major events simultaneously happening in Fredericksburg. Here are four of them:

  1. 160th Anniversary of the Battle of Fredericksburg – One of the most-renowned moments in the history of this city is the consequential Civil War Battle of Fredericksburg. From December 9-13, the National Park Service will commemorate the 160th anniversary of this battle through a number of informative events to teach more about how the Union and Confederate armies strategically approached the battle, how Freedom Seekers influenced emancipation through the Fredericksburg campaign, how an artillery duel impacted the battle, and many more lessons. Mali Lucas-Green, who is a descendant of the freedom seekers, will be a guest speaker at the Central Rappahannock Regional Library from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday. Fredericksburg  is proud of its rich history, and the 160th anniversary of this battle is the perfect way to learn more of how our city was shaped.
  2. FAM Faire KrisKringlmarkt – This annual event at the Fredericksburg Area Museum will be a German-style market in Market Square. The market will feature vendors selling food and crafts. The KrisKringlmarkt is a great way to support local businesses this holiday season.
  3. HFFI Candlelight Tour – A beloved tradition hosted by the Historic Fredericksburg Foundation, the 52nd-annual Candlelight Tour is a unique way to enjoy the holiday season. From Friday to Sunday at designated times, take a guided (or self-guided) tour through historical homes in the College Heights neighborhood of Fredericksburg. A tour of five homes will take up to three hours, and we encourage you to give yourself extra time to check-in. Guided tours cost $35, and self-guided tours are free with no ticket required. The Candlelight Tour is a beautiful way to experience the Fredericksburg holidays.
  4. Santa at Braehead Farm – On Saturday and Sunday, Santa will pay a visit to Braehead Farm. Meet Mr. Kringle, enjoy some Hot Cocoa, and visit the animals of Braehead. Tickets will be $5 for general admission and $7 for the Santa Event, bringing the total of your trip to $12. Christmas is never complete without a visit with Santa, and Braehead is the perfect place to meet him!
