Rappahannock Development Group to introduce Fredericksburg’s newest gathering place, Dominion Public Market

An exciting new food hall, event space, culinary kitchen and rooftop music venue to eat, gather and celebrate

FREDERICKSBURG, VIRGINIA – MAY 8th, 2018 — Dominion Public Market will be Fredericksburg’s first food hall and market place. This 35,000square-foot public market and food hall will be located in the historic district at 1010 Caroline Street. It will become a staple for locals, and a destination for visitors looking for breakfast, lunch, dinner or entertainment for the whole family.

Business entrepreneurs and Fredericksburg residents, Sean and Margaret Haynes, along with their partners, are the visionaries behind Dominion Public Market. “As residents, we recognized what the downtown was missing — namely a food hall and market that could deliver an authentic food experience while building a gathering space for our local community,” says Sean Haynes.

The three-level retail space will have a 10,000-square-foot food hall and market on the first floor. The second floor will be a 5,500-square-foot event space with a bar and lounge. The second floor will also include a 3,000-square-foot culinary teaching kitchen to provide workforce development within the region. An 8,000-square-foot outdoor music venue and public gathering space is designed for the roof level.

“Sean and Margaret Haynes are the perfect partners to bring Dominion Public Market to life. Their development expertise, enthusiasm and vision perfectly align with our economic development and tourism goals for the City of Fredericksburg,” says Bill Freehling, Fredericksburg’s director of economic development and tourism.

Dominion Public Market brings legitimate culinary talent and expertise to the table. Executive Chef Joy Crump and Beth Black of the local restaurants Foode, Mercantile and 6 Bears & A Goat are working as advisors to help shape the course of the culinary components of this project.

“This one-of-a-kind food hall fulfills our dream of empowering up-and-coming food artisans and established brands to grow their businesses, while creating a space for our community to gather around things we love like food, music and community causes,” said Margaret Haynes.

The new food hall and market place broke ground in April 2017 with construction and renovation efforts underway. Dominion Public Market will open in the Summer of 2019. Culinary concepts who hope to secure a location should apply at dominionpublicmarket.com.
