Downtown Greens set to purchase 56-acre property

by | Nov 18, 2021 | All Articles

Fredericksburg-based nonprofit Downtown Greens is planning to purchase a 56-acre property in the City’s industrial park by the end of the year.

Downtown Greens announced today that it has raised enough money — $750,000 — to make a down payment on the land and finance the remainder of the more than $2 million purchase price. The organization is now planning a Phase Two fundraising campaign to pay off the remaining balance on the loan it will assume at closing.

Downtown Greens’ mission is to “protect and nurture urban greenspace through collaborative environmental stewardship and experiential education.” The organization has an array of conservation, educational and agricultural plans for the 56 acres, which is next to Braehead Farm off Tyler Street.
