Come plant tulips in Fredericksburg

December 3, 2021 | by | Articles |

This is the time of year to plant tulip bulbs, and there will be a whole lot to plant here in Fredericksburg thanks to a company with a large King George County greenhouse and some local coordinators.

Bloomia is donating more than 65,000 tulip bulbs to be planted in and around downtown Fredericksburg this year. For the next three weekends, the company will be planting tulip bulbs around town from 12-4 p.m. and is looking for help. This is planned on Dec. 5, Dec. 11-12 and Dec. 18-19 (they’re not planting this Saturday because of the Fredericksburg Christmas Parade).

People interested in helping can meet company representatives at City Dock Park at noon on one or more of the above-mentioned five days. Volunteers will be told where to plant, and tools and gloves will be waiting at the locations.

No RSVPs are required! If you are on Instagram, follow @tulipsfxbg.

Here is a video we did about the efforts of local man Dr. Tim Hughes to plant tulips all over the City, working with Bloomia. Hughes remains actively involved with the effort.
