City to replace stormwater system near Chatham Bridge

January 25, 2021 | Fredericksburg City News |

The City of Fredericksburg will replace the stormwater system in the 100 block of William Street this summer to coincide with the Chatham Bridge work.

The existing storm sewer system dates back almost a century and is undersized. A new, larger system will be installed in phases, with construction expected to start in the 100 block of William Street in June and finish in August. The nearby Chatham Bridge is scheduled to reopen to traffic in October.

There will be temporary lane closures for engineering work in the 100 block of William Street on Friday, Jan. 29 (with a rain date of Monday, Feb. 1).
