Beth Black was re-appointed to Fredericksburg’s Economic Development Authority on Tuesday night.

City Council at its Tuesday night meeting named Black to a second four-year term. She is joined on the EDA by Will Mackintosh, Mitzi Brown, Lee Murray, Suzy Stone, Chris Waller and Susan Richey.

Black, who is the co-owner of Foode and Mercantile, has chaired the EDA for the past two years. Mackintosh will step into that role beginning next month.

During Black’s time as chair, the EDA launched the Invest FXBG loan program and approved loans to help jump-start M-D Eats, Kickshaws Gluten-Free Bakery and Haley’s Honey Meadery. The EDA also made close to $500,000 in grants to provide pandemic relief to more than 100 Fredericksburg businesses, executed a subsidized gift card program to assist restaurants and fitness centers, facilitated the City’s purchase of 3.88 acres in the industrial park for a school-bus parking facility, assisted the Fredericksburg Nationals’ owners with a bond issuance for the stadium, supported numerous marketing campaigns and helped attract new events to the City.

Congratulations Beth on your re-appointment! We look forward to the next four years.
